St Elphin's is an Anglican boarding and day school for girls, founded in 1844 to provide education for clergy daughters and then later associated with the Woodard Corporation. All denominations respected.
Within a secure Christian framework girls are prepared for every aspect of modern life. Classes are small and results put the school in the top rank of national league tables. Special provisions are made for dyslexic students or those with exceptional ability. The school seeks to foster good, all-round development during an extended day. Enjoyment of the Performing Arts is especially encouraged, also public speaking, swimming, sport, athletics and country life. The Sixth Form has a history of success in Young Enterprise schemes. Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, Amnesty International, social services involvement and work experience are encouraged for every girl. Through firm but gentle discipline we aim to foster self confidence and independence as well as good academic standards and personal development.
Particular care is taken to maintain close contact with parents.
Daily transport is organised between school and Chesterfield. Scholarships and Bursaries are offered.
